Tutorial: How to create a SAE Threaded hole in Hydroman

Goal:

Creating SAE threaded holes.

Steps:

  • Open Hydroman and start a new file and select a template.

  • With the right mouse button on face 1 and select create at cursor.

The next window will appaer.

  • Fill in the Diameter and Depth and press OK.
  • Select the hole and press Enter. The edit box for the hole will appear.

Use the right mouse button in the edit box and select Add step

Add as many steps you need in the same way. For this SAE threaded hole we need 4 steps.

Change the diameters.

  • Press OK.
  • Select the hole and make a cross section in the Y axis using the right mouse click.
  • Select the hole and select Extended [E] or use the right mouse click.

  • The next window will appear.

Here you can enter the top angles for each step. For step 1 | 180, step 2 | 24, step 3 | 90 and for step 4 | 120.

  • Select the hole and press Enter to open the edit box.

Fill in the depths and thread. The hole will look like this.

  • This hole has tolerances on the dimensions. Herefore we must blend out those steps in the hole. The details will be shown with a detail drawing on the production drawing in Hydroman.
  • Select the hole and select Attirbutes using the right mouse click.

The next edit box will appear.

  • Mark step 2 and 3 (use Ctrl to select more than one) and mark Hidden and Locked. The steps will not be visible in the export of the drilling list.
  • To show in the library what kind of hole it is you need to fill in this data in the hole properties. Select the hole and use the right mouse click and select Hole Properties.

  • Save the manifold file at …..\Libraries\Hydroman Files. Save it for example under the name Port_SAE-04.MNF. The file can be in a subfolder.
